Team: Human Beings

We’re all in this together – this journey of life.

Let’s make the best of it.

Whether we are on the chess team, basketball team, research team, enjoy social media or online gaming, we interact with each other at some point.

We’re in this journey together.

I believe we “need” each other and here are a few reasons why:

  • Giving to others gives us more joy than merely giving to ourselves
  • What goes around comes around – keep giving and watch it come back
  • Everything in life is shared; if no one existed but you, what would you share?
  • Family and friends look out for each other
  • Co-op programs offer businesses exceptional free services (in some cases) and students receive world-class experience
  • Developed countries in Europe and in North America provide massive assistance to countries in need of support such as food for natural disasters or shelter for immigrants

Over the last year, I have found a great deal of joy, prosperity and strength by connecting with people.

This is not to say I was a people person growing up, but I have grown to appreciate the value we can bring to each other.

The most simple way that I do this is by taking a few minutes (or longer) each month to reach out to a few important people in my life, such as my family, friends, colleagues or clients.

Reaching out to people takes some time to get used to, but well worth the effort.

By taking these few minutes to ‘just say hi’ or let them know you were ‘thinking of them’, it can bring a massive change in ourselves and great appreciation from others, which people 99% of time express, undoubtedly.

Let me show you how I know this.

Think about how many people and companies call you to get information or sell you something.

Mimi An from HubSpot states that over 70% of people in the US and Europe disliked pop-up and mobile advertisements.

She goes on to say,

“In our survey of 1,055 online browsers in the US and Europe, we found that they disliked pop-up ads, mobile ads, and video ads the most.”

Now think about how good it feels to receive a call, email or letter from someone just because they care.

At the very least, it makes you feel good, right?

This is one simple way to start a chain reaction of giving to others.

Remember the film Pay it Forward?

It talks about doing a good deed for three people and also asking each of those people to do the same thing to others, which starts a global chain reaction.

Do yourself a favour and watch the whole clip – it may just change your life.

Learn the concept of paying it forward.

It’s not even about getting anything in return.

It’s about doing something good just ‘cuz it feels good.

Not necessarily a big thing for others, as it says in the film, but maybe a small thing that makes someone light up.

Imagine what would happen if this concept caught on in the world…

More kindness, more sharing, more abundance, less greed, less famine and less war.

People’s hearts will return towards goodness.

As one of my instructors from college said, “I’m a curious George”.

Let’s be curious, and as a type of science experiment, call someone and let them know we are thinking of them.

It might seem odd or forced at first, but after a few times, you’ll love it.

I promise you that will happen.

In my experience, giving to others is one of the greatest things you can do in your life,

Give it a try – you won’t regret it.

Thank you for indulging me by considering this small but powerful idea.
